Our Ford Tractor dash bolt kits are better in
several ways:
BETTER BOLTS
: The OEM dash bolts were unattractive
Phillips wide head, gold anodized plated, common steel fasteners. Our bolts are
good looking Allen Socket Button Head, Stainless Steel pieces. Phillips head
bolts tend to “roll over” the corners when tightened. Socket Button Heads do
not. Screwdrivers can often jump out Phillips head bolts and mess up paint. Hex
tools in Socket Button Head bolts do not do this. Plated common steel will peel
and then rust. Stainless steel will end rust concerns.
BETTER PAINT PROTECTION
WITH WASHERS
: The OEM dash
bolts were installed with no washers as it was cheaper to use wide head bolts
and eliminate the expense of extra parts. However, tightening bolts down on to
painted sheet metal, especially when freshly painted, tends to mess up paint
jobs. We feel that it is better to let washers take the abuse during tightening
and to “spread the load” over a wider surface of vintage sheet metal. Our
stainless washers have rubber backs to help damper rattles.  Also, the rubber grips tightly on the threads
and keeps the washers perfectly centered on the bolts for a clean look. If
rubber backed washers are not your style, we have included a set of small OD
flat washers that tuck neatly under the bolt heads. The choice is yours.
BETTER STEEL
: Brand new plated bolts may look great on
day one, but it does not take long for their appearance to fade. That phase is
followed by flaking and then rust. Why not use Stainless Steel Bblts in the
beginning and avoid disappointment down the line. All pieces in our Vintage
Ford Tractor kits are made of grade 18-8 Stainless Steel.
